I just found out about John Hutchison. My great grandfather was Jasper Hutchison, who was apparently John's great, great nephew. Jasper lived in Texas, and I remember visiting him when I was a child. He passed when I was very young, around 5 or 6 years old. In researching for a trip I am taking to Normandy, my aunt mentioned John Hutchison being the last Civil War survivor, which brings me to your post. I woould love to find out more, and know that your original post is quite old. If you are still researching, please let me know how we can get in touch.
