Family connections in Clardy's Batt.?

I have read all of the posting concerning Capt. William Chronister and the Chilton raid as well as the postings about Pulliam's Farm and have a few questions and comments. Has anyone made a family connection between Capt. William Chronister and Pvt. Jonathan L. Chitwood? Jonathan Chitwood is the son of Hugh Chitwood, whose home was where Lieutenant McHenry was camped, and the brother of Lt. Henderson Chitwood. It is my understanding that Jonathan's mother-in-law was Malinda Chronister Wilborn, wife of Thomas Wilborn. Jonathan was my grandfather's grandfather. I was told by my grandfather that there was a family relationship, but, have not been able to make the connection. Carrs Creek, where Chronister lived and is buried, is only a "whoop an a holler" from Punkin Hollow where Hugh's farm was located. From the head of Pumkin Hollow, on horseback at least, it is no long distance to either Log Yard, where a Chilton is suspected to be buried, or Carrs Creek. The Chiltons and Chitwoods had many ties, though mostly political and economic, family ties came later. I also have a question concerning those men who were at Pulliams farm in Ripley County. William Chitwood who was wounded at Pulliam's farm in Ripley county, and later died of his wounds, was Hugh's nephew. Is there a list of those who died there? Many of the men with Pratt and Reaves were from Reynolds County. Hugh had a brother who was killed while setting on his porch down on Webbs Creek when the raid took place through the Bethleham Church community. Most, if not all of the men listed as part of Clardy's Bat. from Reynolds, Carter and Shannon County can be found to have ties with at least one other man on the list. Several have relations in the 15th and the 12th. Lt. William Douglas Dickson's family had migrated to Missouri with the Chitwoods as had the families of M. W. Cotten and Bailey Smith. Lt. William Douglas Dickson was married to John Rayfield's daughter and had a brother who was born in TN and named Joel "Chitwood" Dickson. John Rayfield's farm was next to Lucien Farris' farm. Lucien Farris had a brother-in-law named Capt.Ben Talbot. Lucien had another brother-in-law named Joshua Morris who was involved in a couple of scrapes with Union authorities in Carter County. Joshua was the uncle of Pvt. Samuel Copeland. Sam Copeland had a half brother who was named William Copeland who had his store at Logan Creek robbed more than once by Chronister and others. There are local legends that these robberies were somewhat responsible for the burning of Barnesville. When exactly did the burning of Barnesville take place? William's partner in the store, a step-brother-in-law, fought for the south. William had to flee Reynolds County and take his family to Ironton. Sam Buffington, Lucien Farris and John Rayfield are all buried in the same cementary. I suspect several of these men were with Major Berryman before they were with Clardy. Sam Hidebrand and Berryman were close friends. Many of you have read Sam Hidebrand's autobiography. Sam relates in several instances how he would raid into St. Francis and Washington Counties and when leaving there to go back to Arkansas, would leave by way the Black River, crossing at Buford Ford. This route would have taken Sam right through the Buffington, Farris and Rayfield farms. Sam had family ties to Reynolds county, as well as many friends there. Sam's wife was the granddaugther of Henry Padgett Frye, reputedly one of the first "white men" to spend time on Black River in Reynolds County. I got a long way from my questions, but the point I'm trying to make is that the men in this area of SE Missouri all had ties to each other.
