Adams in Howell County

My ancestors in Howell County, Benoni Adams and his sons Edward and Revis Houston Adams, were Confederate irregulars who were shot at home in Pottersville on January 3, 1864. Edward and Benoni died that day, but Revis lived until June. People have told me that they must have been killed by Monks' men. They are not named in Monks' book, but some of their friends/neighbors apparently took part in the kidnap of Monks, who escaped. Monks' brother? is named in the court records as the guardian of the property of Benoni's minor children. I am hoping to get a copy of Bruce Nichols' book about the happenings up to the time of these killings. Meanwhile, can anyone tell me more, to add facts to my family tradition?
