Byrd is not a name that is common in Reynolds County. However, my wife and I both remember seeing that surname on our most recent trip to the Clearwater Lake area. As we were not specifically looking for anyone with that name we didn't look closely enough to remember the first name or even the gender. We try to make these trips whenever I have work in the area and on this particular trip we were running short on time so only looked for our own immediate families and didn't record all of the grave markings as we typically try to do. At this time I don't remember which graveyard it was, but I believe it would have been in one of three. Possibilities include the Mann Cemetary on the east side of Black River at the mouth of Funk Branch, and this one is very close to the Wayne County/Reynolds County line, the Hampton cemetary on Lower Doe Run Valley southeast of Ellington near Webb Creek in Reynolds County and the Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetary on 49 highway at Cloride, I think this one is in Iron County. All three go back to pre-civil war times. I think there are interment listings on the internet for all three of these graveyards, but I don't know how complete they are. I found your 2002 posting on the GenForum site so I have that info. We have included this data into our list of those for whom we are searching and if we have any luck I will try to let you know. This area is about a 4 hour drive from our home so we don't go there as often as we would like but this time of the year we typically get down there at least monthly. If you need better directions in how to locate these sites let me know and I'll be happy to help. I'm sure I can pinpoint them on Google. If your GGgrandmother had other relatives in the area named Jackson, I would start the search in the Centerville area of Reynolds County.
