The description in Bay's Reminiscences of the Bench and Bar of Missouri of what happened to Parsons and the others is pretty accurate. Being that Bay's book was published in 1878, just three years after the decision of the Claims Commission umpire to award payments to the decedents families, his account is commensurate with the testimony of most of the deponents.
Jackman's deposition, however, is the only one to mention Williams.
