The Stalcups were in the Trousdale County, TN area. See link at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tntrousd/Stalcup.html
They appeared to migrate west from there to KY, MO, AR, etc. They came from the Wilmington, Delaware area originally, emigrating to Wilmington, DE from Sweden in the 1600s....(!!!!). As I understand it, all the American Stalcup/Stalcop/Stalkop/Stallcup/etc. lines are ALL derived from the Wilmington, DE line.
There is a Stallcop family website you can google; it has a lot about the Ancestral Stallcop coming over from Sweden to Delaware.
Larry Stallcup in Texas is very knowledgeable re the Southern Stalcups/Stalcops/Stallcups/etc.; I think you can still email him at Stalcop@aol.com.
Would LOVE to establish a connection between Peter Stalcup and William A. Jackson who both served in Clardy's MO Cavalry Battalion.....!!!!
thanks again,
Ken
