Re: George "Bud" Wigginton Photo?

Well, hello "cousin"! I am not exactly sure of my connection to Bud (William, Mollie, Amanda), but am fairly confident that he and I are related somehow. My maiden name is Wigginton and practically all the Wiggintons in the US are related one way or another.

For the past two years, I have been compiling information on all the Wiggintons (any spelling, of which there are many) who fought in the Civil War. It has been a lot of fun and I have learned more than I ever dreamed. At last count, my list numbers 148 men. I expect that number to decrease as I know I still have many duplicate records (particularly in MS). Approximately 75% of the Wigginton men fought for the Confederacy. That didn't surprise me but the fact that there were Wigginton men in Native American units (CSA) and the Colored Troops did. Altogether 18 different states are represented so it makes for a very interesting cross section of America. Sorry to ramble on, but I really love sharing my project.

Thanks for the info about Amanda. I will pass it along to my Father who has been doing Wigginton genealogy for over 25 years.

Take care,
Kerry
