Mr Bamford was born about 1836 in either Pennsylvania or Ohio, (he is listed in PA on the 1850 census). He did file for and receive a Civil War invalid pension from the state of Oregon #935871 May 16, 1892. Given that he had an attorney for that purpose, I suspect that his pension app file would have more info in it to help you flesh out what he did during the war. It appears he was a wagoneer that enlisted in 1861 in St. Louis Missouri but that is about the extent I can give you.
