I have been lookin at a number of service records and have found that a significant number of substitutes deserted within a month of their enlistment. My question is, what happened, if anything, to the person that purchased the substitute's service? Were they fined? Did they have to purchase another substitute? Or what? Any help the board can give would be welcome.
