By the way, the one who went into the 16th Infantry was Washington Lee Gilbert--a younger brother of Walter (who was shot).
Thanks again for your time and efforts. If I find out more, I will let you know. Do you feel it would be worth searching the official records of the units you've mentioned to see if I can discover more about exactly where they were on that day?
