Re: Adams in Howell County
Hello. My grandmother's bunch never made it to Missouri, but that Adams group also claimed kin
to John Adams. Supposedly, my Adams made their way down the east coast and eventually ended up
around and in northern Georgia at Macon. An Adams who was named William married a
Mary Rodgers in Cedartown, Georgia, and that was how the Cherokee Indian blood was introduced
prior to the Civil War.
Supposedly, the Adams family were movers and shakers-meaning good productive citizens of the area.
The one lady who COULD have helped me with this took it poorly when I said there was Indian blood
and she said there was not. My reply was, she was not with the family when they left Georgia.
I have not heard one word since that time.
I am writing because your family is the only other one I have ever heard make that claim.
So if you ever prove the connection, I would be interested myself.
Thanks a million,
