We have an Elisha Adams in our family tree born 1802 in North Carolina, married in Kentucky in 1837, and died in 1877. We think he died in Arkansas, but I haven't found the proof yet. 1850 census shows him living in Graves, Kentucky. His wife's name was Susannah. She was 17 years younger than him. Some of our family trees have shown Elisha with a middle name of B., but I have found no proof of that so I've been reluctant to add the middle intial in my tree. We show his parents to be William and Elenor Adams. Is this your same Elish Adams, and if so could he have been married before he married Susannah?
