For a decidedly different "point of view" on the whole matter, I would suggest a book compiled by a local Osceola historian, Richard Sunderwirth, titled "THE BURNING OF OSCEOLA,MISSOURI", Independence, Missouri, Two Trails Publishing Press, 2007.
