Release of new archival documents:

May 29, many new archival documents are to be released through the MO State Archives, according to an announcement from the Sec. of State's Office and through KSDK news media. Over 11,200 local court records will provide information on economic, social, slavery, census, continued post-war slavery in MO,steamboat commerce, western expansion, the underground railroad, and other cases. According to the archival staff, all the records from the St. Louis Circuit Court related to the Civil War between 1861-1868 are expected to be completely preseved and available by 2011. The project was started in 1999.

"The National Endlowment for the Humanities provided a $330,000. grant for the preservation of these records, according to the Secretary of State's office."
