Re: Ambrose B. Coleman 1844-1864 Reynolds County

Thanks Jim, the bio is of my ggggreat grandfather Anderson Coleman. The children mentioned in it are my gggreat aunts, uncles and my gggreat grandfather William Wallace Coleman. I have also been able to verify Ambrose's date of birth through 1850/1860 censuses and his death date, place of burial and cemetery through mogenweb. There was another Ambrose B Coleman (a distant relative) who was also in the Civil War but his unit was out of Tennessee and I have been able to find him in subsequent census records from 1870/1880 so I know he survived.

I am not sure if my Uncle Ambrose was captured and conscripted when his younger brother (age 14)William was in May 1863. I do remember seeing something about a capture of "suspected bushwackers" who were transfered to Pilot Knob around that date but, I don't know if Uncle Ambrose was in the group. Because he was only 21 at the time of his death in 1864, I suspect that he may have been a POW who did not survive.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cheryl
