Has anyone ever checked with the Smithsonian? I was reading a diary of a school teacher/missionary in the Choctaw Nation in 1860. She sent a monthly report to the Smithsonian giving daily temperatures and a general description of weather conditions. I assume this was a common practice and the Smithsonian may have these records from around the country.
