Cousin Don,

To be honest, it took me a while to find out which Reed was most likely with Samuel Montgomery when Penick's troops caught up with them on January 19, 1863. I found a George Reed in "Branded As Rebels." The date of his death is only off by a few days, so I went out on a limb and assumed this is the young man we were looking for. Let me know if this makes sense.

On a separate note, many of the existing rosters of Quantrill's guerrillas that appear on line and in print have a number of factual errors in them. Wouldn't it be great if a few of us could get together and clean up some of these old lists, so we could come up with a more accurate one?

Well, I have to go for now, but I will be in touch.

Take care,
Larry
