Winter of 61-62
In Response To: Manhattan KS Data ()

Contrast to John Edwards' "Noted Guerrillas," at p. 147, in speaking of the winter of 61-62--"The deep snow stayed deep to the last. Military operations were generally suspended...."

And p. 278 of "The American Journal of the Medical Sciences," published in 1865, where Dr. T.F. Prewitt, in speaking of the winter of 61-62, reported that in Livingston County, Mo., there was an unusually severe and protracted spell of cold dry weather.

And Galusha Anderson's commentary at page 263 of his "The Story of a Border City During the Civil War," where he mentioned that the winter of 61-62 was "bitterly cold."
