Thomas F. Harney

Thomas F. Harney, a Confederate torpedo (land mine) specialist in Brig Gen G.J. Rains' Torpedo Bureau, is listed in the on-line NPS "Soldiers and Sailors roster" as having served in the otherwise unidentified "3rd Missouri Battalion" and the 6th Missouri [Infantry] Regiment, per CSR in M380 r7. (In Tidwell, Hall and Gaddy, "Come Retribution," pp. 418-419, he is cited as Pennsylvania-born and a lieutenant, having enlisted in the CS army at Corinth. Mississippi, 1 May 1862). He was captured and exchanged, ending up in Rains' outfit as a sergeant and actg asst q.m.

If the above is correct, was his initial enlistment in the 6th Missouri?
