COMPANY F 8TH CAVALRY M.S.M.

I stumbled across a complete "muster role" of this unit, and the following information:

In November of 1883, Warsaw was the scene of a reunion of the Civil War veterans of Co, F. 8th Cavalry, M.S.M.
This company was recruited from Benton and Hickory counties on April 1, 1862. Because of a misunderstanding on the meeting date, attendance was not as large as it otherwise mighthave been. The following officers and members were present and enjoyed the evening at the office of R. W. Campbell:
Captain John R. Foster
Lieut. John L. Holloway
Lieut. Phillip A. Parker
Sgt. Thomas L. Gunn
Cpl, S. W. Nowell
Privates--Titus E. Holloway
Robert Brady
Thos. Nicholson, bugler
Samuel J. Dillon
Robert W. Sands
Wm. Grashing
V. Newell
C. E. Lindsey

What I would like to know, is the M.S.M. Union or Confederate? The Missouri State Guard was Confederate, right?
I have the complete muster role available if anyone would be interested. Thanks in advance for helping clear up my confusion.
