The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Allison murders, Camden Co. 1863

I have found from word to mouth that the Osage River during this time period was the route used to run and hide for fighters of actions against Kansas raiders that roam in pairs from the border deep into the center.. at times some locals that had Northern ties acted as spys or eyes.. Now weather or not that this murder was in responce to imformation toward and against the Missouri radiers that lost family members to rape and murder from the border war I can not prove just yet. But ther were deep ties in the Horse Shoe Bend area and down to old Bagnel site. James family has been buried as the crow flies about twelve miles and near the New Toll Bridge Over the Lake in the Horse Shoe Bend area. Now if I understand the stories there were more unexplain deaths in a 35 to 40 miles radius of the Osage river .. My sources are passing faster then I can gather what is left of this history.
