How interesting that you are doing a book about steamboating...I'd very much like to correspond directly with you, as I have recently self-published a preliminary work on the Osage River steamboats.
The ARABIA museum is excellent--the Hawley's have done a wonderful job of preserving the artifacts they recovered on their "treasure hunt".
I also have an extensive library of published works about Missouri River Steamboats. The information I'm looking for now would come from very local primary sources--i.e., old local newspapers, diaries, journals, etc.
