Many, many thanks to you J. K. and also to G.M. for the info. I know of Gen. Asboth from references in literature, but only recently came across "Asboth Rifles" when re-reading the pension record of an ancestor who served in both 3-mo and 3-yr Second Mo. Vols. (infantry). Those who have an ancestor's pension records may want to re-read them because a single reading may miss useful info. (I was also able to ascertain my ancestor's first wife's name and her place of burial from research conducted after a re-reading of his pension records.) May I now pose two more questions? 1) How did Second Mo. Vols. acquire the name "Asboth's Rifles", and 2) What was the design of the Regimental Flag, which I have had no success finding? Any further help would be appreciated?
