Thanks for your reply. My g-g-grandfather was August W. Lerch. Your g-g-grandfather, 2nd Lt. Co. E, gave an affidavit to support my g-g-grandfather's pension claim. From reading the pension file, I suspect that the two of them may have kept in touch, or lived nearby, for a number of years after the "War of 1861." If I am not mistaken, your g-g-grandfather also has a pension file, that I was thinking of ordering, seeking to learn of residence addresses or family. I have a fascinating, but quite sad, story about my ancestor, learned only this past summer from visiting Missouri. Do you have any photographs of your g-g-grandfather or those times? Do you or other family members belong to SUVCW or auxiliaries?
