Jim, I agree with you 100%. There were quite a number of Morgans in Missouri during the CW and those babies can keep up a good strong trot of approximately 3 - 5 miles an hour, with some bursts at a good lope, just about all day long. As I'm sure you know, they actually prefer to trot. It's easier than walking, as long as the rider isn't banging on their kidneys the whole time. But I'm pretty sure those guys were damn good riders. The trip was definitely do-able.
