Re: Milton Holman Oliver's unit, Missouri Cavalry,

As an observation, I believe that the service record of Milton Oliver was incorrectly filed under the 2nd Northeast Missouri Cavalry. The record states that he was in Franklin’s Brigade, which I think was a Missouri State Guard unit. When the Federal government transcribed the records after the war, whoever did Oliver’s, saw the name ‘Franklin’ and placed it under the 2nd NE MO Cav which was headed by Cyrus Franklin in the summer of 1862 in NE MO, whereas Oliver was from SW MO. Someone with more knowledge about Franklin’s Brigade might be able to weigh in on this. (I have come across a few soldiers that were randomly placed on the 1st and 2nd NE MO Cav roster even though they were with Porter or Franklin during their Missouri State Guard service and just dumped into Porter's and Franklin’s later units.)
