Camp Burrows

A letter appearing in the OR Series 1 Volume 3 pg. 608 from M. Jeff Thompson, Commanding Ripley County Battalion is from the Headaquarters Ripley County Battalion, Camp Burrows, July 16, 1861 as follows:

HEADQUARTERS RIPLEY COUNTY BATTALION,
Camp Burrows, July 16, 1861.
JOSEPH TUCKER, Esq.,
Editor of the State Journal, Saint Louis:
DEAR SIR: If there is any way to communicate with the governor through any person in Saint Louis, please let me know it. I am advancing, and General Yell will follow me in a few days with 5,000 men. He will take position between Rolla and Ironton, and act as circumstances dictate. General Watkins will move up, sustained by General Pillow, and if proper energy is exercised, we can drive the enemy north of the Missouri and into Saint Louis in 30 days. You will please let me hear from you, verbally or not, through the person through whom this passes; and please send the Daily Journal for a short time to Doniphan, as it will be sent to me by my couriers.
Yours, respectfully,
M. JEFF THOMPSON,
Commanding Ripley County Battalion

I am interested in information about other references to Camp Burrows and its possible location. Were these camps named after those who's property they were locate? Looking at the 1860's Federal Census for Ripley County, MO, I found only 3 head of households by the name of Burrows and they were all located in Union Township near present day Burr. Any information about Camp Burrows or the Ripley County Battalion would be greatly appreciated.
