The veteran was allegedly in the 6th or 7th Missouri Cavalry and I found a compiled service record on him but did not have his parole. It did contain some prisoner documentation. Just last nite I found he was also associated with the 6th Missouri Infantry and therein found his parole document. He was among that group sent first to Camp Morton then to Gratiot in St. Louis due to overcrowding at the latter prison. I have all the documentation now, but need an interpretation as to if he was paroled, then why sent to prison when so many others were allowed to go to their homes following their release from the perimeter of Vicksburg.
