Re: How Ex- Confederates were treated after the wa

Ed, is this the family of William Wariner and Winnie Short Wariner? They came from KY to MO, and then came to Grayson Co TX where her brother Franklin Short was living, and later moved on down to Wise Co TX near the town of Alvord, where they lived out their lives? Their family stories here say she kept a scattergun above the door to deal with night callers in Missouri, and when they came to TX the men travelled at night through the rough while the women travelled on the roads by day. Two of their sons, Eppa and Alfred Wariner, left early and came to Claiborne Parish, LA, where her brother and several sisters were living before they moved to TX.
