Anne,

According to Dr. Leslie Anders' 1968 history of the regiment, "The Eighteenth Missouri," on page 321, Private Henry Talkins of Rockwood's Company D was the regiment's only casualty at Bentonville, North Carolina, the evening of 21 March 1865. Dr. Anders wrote that Talkins had the distinction of being the last man of the regiment to be killed in action.

Therefore, I would guess Private Talkins was bured either at Bentonville, NC or in the nearest National Cemetery to that place.

You probably have Talkins' military service record from the NARA, but Anders indicated that he was a POW at the Shiloh battle in April 1862, also.

You may wish to view page 321 via Interlibrary Loan through your local library for a small fee, to see what else was going on at the time.
