John Henry Butler's service

in the Confederate army. We have that he served with Price, was captured when he got to the Boston Mts. of ARK, took the oath and returned home. He did serve in the 'corn stalk militia' around home for protection. He was from Ralls County, MO, the town of Madisonville, MO, which is no longer an organized village.

J.H. Butler was born July 23, 1833 and d. Nov. 11, 1910 at Madisonville, MO. His father was Dudley Butler and mother Matilda Liter Butler. They had come to MO from Bourbon County, KY, 1825, and settled in the Salt River Valley, which was climatically and geographically similar to their previous home. He was my great grandfather.
