My g-g-grandfather, Christian Birkicht (Burkicht, Birkecht) was band leader for 42nd E.M.M., 1 Brig., Central Dist., Missouri, Brigade Band. I've found him in CW soldier lists and pension applications but can't seem to find background on the activities of this particular Brigade or Company.

I hope someone can point me in a direction to:

1. Find out more about his brigade, Company (G)and the 42nd EMM

2. Might know where photos could be of this brigade band??

3. On his pension card it states "Company E 9th Regiment" - can anyone help me with the backgound/history of that Regiment and Company?
