Mr. Lull, I wouldn't put too much faith in Mr. Gilmore's book to get an accurate description of the Lane Brigade in which your ancestor served. While I cannot speak with authority on the rest of the book (others have done that) I can say that his account of the operations of the Lane Brigade is rife with errors and exaggeration and should not be relied upon. About the only thing that was accurately recounted were the horrible executions at Morristown, and even that was placed in the wrong context (although this error did not significantly affect that story).
