If on can they should read both Kirby Ross's book on Sam Hilderband and William Monk a history of Southern Arkansaw and Missouri". William Monks may not be well known but he serrved not only in the US VOLs but also led a post CW force of ex Union and CSA Vets against bandits in Mo and aloso led Mo volunteers against the KKK in Ark. Its very intersting how he handled political perecution vs Hilderband. One should read both books they are great!
