There is a lot of info on the 3rd Wis on the web. A good one is genealogytrails.com/3rdwiscavreg which has a lot of ORs from the 3rd Wis. The 3rd appears to be one of the better Union regiments. One of the ORs mentions the 3rd Ark USV which is an interesting unit because per the recent Campell thread had a lot of CSA deserters. I can't find the reference but I did read that Lt.Pond was very politicaly influenced by John Brown i will try to find it since Lt Pond was one of the organizers of the 3rd Wis.
