I havent read much on Mo conventional units. I know there is a new book on a majority German Immigrant USV that fought for almot the entire CW and suffered very heavy casualties. It was on the Barnes and Noble website. In Battles and Leaders Grant praised his Mo men for their bravery at Shilo and the CSA Mo Confederate units were supposed to be very brave has well. I don't what the ethnic breakdown of the Mo USVs were. A major theme that authors emphasize of the Mo irregular war is that there was quite a bit of ethnic tension between the German newcomers and the native English and Scotch/Irish Mo residents.
