I'm wondering which Wolf that Campbell was referring to. There was a Major Enoch Wolfe spelled with an e and a Major Jacob Wolf without the e. Both were from around the same area. Enoch from Izard County and Jacob from Baxter County which borders Izard County. Both were Majors. Both were captured. Not sure if Jacob was paroled or sent north. Jacob's home is on the National Register of Historical Places. So, it is interesting to try to figure out which Wolf(e) Campbell was referring to. Major Enoch was sent to St. Louis, was supposed to have been executed but because he was a Mason, he was reprieved.
