Found statement, James Boys at Pea Ridge?

In researching 8th MO. Vol. Cavalry, U.S., came upon posting in a Family Tree site that said two brothers fought in 8th at Pea Ridge against Jesse James {to be famous outlaws later}. After reviewing notes, Battle of Pea Ridge was fought Mar. 6-8, 1862 and 8th MO. Vol. Cav., U.S. wasn't organized til Aug. 9, 1862. How can this be? Right or Wrong? Thought it was an interesting statement, but it doesn't add up {to me}. My GGF served in 8th as well as those two brothers, {Documented that part}, it would be great to add if it is a Correct statement for family history. HELP! True or False? Thank You, Ralph Biggs
