There is an article written by Julian Kimberlin which states Pennick's men worked with a neighbor by the name of Massey to lure Richard into signing a loyalty oath. When he came into town he was arrested. Later he was taken by Pennicks men back to his home where he was hung in front of his wife and children. The home was looted and then burned to the ground.
