The tobacco guess was a stretch, but perhaps I paid attention when my Kentucky cousins explained all that to me years ago.
I appreciate the open attitude you maintain in discovering the controversies involving your ancestors. Every now and then I catch myself leaning toward one side and then another. What gives me the right? Like my father-in-law said on several occasions regarding my writing: "You weren't there. How could you know?" He's right, of course. I keep that thought close to mind when I write.
