Craig,

My 3rd Great Grandfather, Samuel Fisher, Private, Company A, 9th State Missouri State Militia Cavalry, was wounded in the battle of Kirksville. He was shot in the right shoulder. He later was discharged from the military as he also contracted a lung affliction that grew progressively worse until his death in 1880. He was married to Sarah Ann Asbury who was likely related to William Asbury in the same company and regiment. His brother John was also married to an Asbury.

I just found the adairchs.org site and am reading your fine research. I recently received the pension application for Samuel and can send you additional information. The files contain interviews from others who were in the same unit. Please email me at vinced@optonline.net.
