Lanes comment is interesting but he didnt seem to follow thru on it. Sen Jim Lane has you know was well known for stealing and mudering Missourians and stealing their slaves so I cant see him has pro confederate at least in deed. Per Dryers there are no regiments from Kansas that fought on the CSA side. Some Kansans did fight on the CSA side Bloody Bill of course being the most famous but there didn't seem to be a large amount of Kansans on the CSA side at least compared to those who fought on the Union side. Your right about peace breaking out in Kansas at least from 1858 to the CW. I am reading a biography of Jeb Stewart who did spend some time in Kansas in 1857 keeping both sides apart but later his regiment whent well west of Kansas to fight Indians plus he was able to take a long furlough so it does seem that Kansas settled down for a while. Of course politicians do have the right to change their minds.
