Robert Seal, resident of Montgomery County, Mo., Private, Company D, Elliott's Regiment Missouri Cavalry*, appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War of Cos. C, D, E, Elliott's Regiment Missouri Vol. Cav., Confederate States Army, commanded by Capt. Davenport, surrendered at New Orleans, La., by General E. K. Smith, C. S. A., to Maj. Gen. E. R. S. Canby, U. S. A., May 26, 1865, and paroled at Shreveport, La., June 14, 1865.

Roll dated Shreveport, La., June 14, 1865.

It was also known as the "1st Missouri Cavalry Battalion" or the "10th Missouri Cavalry Regiment".

Regimental Return for the month of February, 1863 shows Field and Staff and companies stationed at Camp Kirtley, Arkansas

A scout of fifty men were detailed about the 10th and ordered to cross the River for the purpose of bringing up deserters & stragglers and about 20 mules north of Batesville met with large force of Feds and after a short fight, retreated to Batesville. The enemy capturing the following named soldiers - William Mosby, Commanding Scout, Henry Abrams wounded with Saber after surrendering. Clay Page, Jeff D. Burford, J. S. Wilson, W. A. Hodge, W.H. Gardener, J. R. Walker, A. D. Fullerton, F. Causa, M. Harless, Isaac Bryant was killed after surrendering. All the prisoners were paroled excepting Capt. Mosby.
