Edward Thomas Smarr Confed

Does anyone have any record of this soldier from Lafayette Co, MO? Believed to be calvary man joining Cockrill in fall 1862 and later serving under Joe Shelby. The Lafayette County history in 1880's says he joined confederate side and my grandfather told me he "rode with Shelby's boys". I have been unable to find any records of his service though. Any leads to where I might look would be welcomed. Thanks.

Dave
