Does anyone have a source or information about southern leader Dick Bowles of southeast MO?

I know that he led 120 mounted Rebels raiding in Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties in late March and early April 1862.

I know that he recruited about five companies of southern recruits in the Dunklin County area by middle December 1864, and by December 19 he with Colonel Timothy Reeves was at Cherokee Bay in NE Arkansas. I know that in early January 1865 a combined Union force from SE MO forced Bowles and Reeves out of Cherokee Bay, and this force also chased the two in the same area during February 1865. There is a report in the "O.R." that with only 20 men Bowles was in the same area in late March 1865. The last thing I have on Dick Bowles took place on 19 June 1865 on the Eleven Point River where a patrol of 7th Kansas Cavalry killed Bowles and captured five of his men, probably in Oregon County.

I am aware Dick Bowles is often confused with Dick Boyce or Boze of Oregon County. I have 1860 census information on Dick Boze there, but I have not been able to find census information on Dick or Richard Bowles. I am wondering if these two are the same guy, but I have trouble believing an Oregon County guy would raid in Bollinger and Cape Girardeau Counties that early in the war. That just seems too far away.

Does anyone have information on Dick Bowles they would be willing to share? Please cite your sources if you have them. I am drawing a blank. The man deserves credit for his accomplishments.
