Re: Who Was Dick Bowles in SE MO?

Bruce,

Just a little early history on Dick Boze. About 1860 his cousins, Lucas and Alex Boze bought a water mill in Johnson township From A.E. Williams. At that time Lucas sold a smaller watermill about 6 miles east of Thomasville to Dick and Tom. Just my theory but I believe the Dick Boze family was living in Johnson twsp during the 1860 census for on the job training in the operation of a mill. That was Tom Boze, his brother living with them. Alex Boze was picked up with 5 other men at the Boze Mill in July, 1863 by a patrol from the 3rd MSM out of the Knob, eventually sent to Camp Douglas, and died there in 1864, listed as a civilian.
