Thanks for including that. Lots of documents like that didn't make it into "The Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies." There are several southern leaders around Missouri that I have been trying to identify. The hardest ones to figure out are those fellows who used a fake name to protect their families, not that I blame them. I have found instances when passing guerrilla bands told residents they rode for a different man just because they knew the name would get back to the Yanks and mess with their minds. Sometimes the only name we have for some of these leaders is what the Union military THOUGHT was the guy's name, and they were often off a few letters or so. The military of both sides was always bad with spelling men's names.
