I've been buried at work and just saw this. Thank you for your kind words about my book. I somewhat overstate my case in that passage, I'm afraid, since it would be some time before the resolution was passed. Still, the St. Louis Massacre, or Riot, or what have you, was the main factor in Governor Jackson getting the resolution passed. He would have probably put it to a vote earlier, but he was kind of busy in those days.
