Sometime in 1864 Guitar's service in the EMM was wrapped up with Special Order 126. It could have been the result of senior Union command's feeling that a dozen or fewer men were not viable as any sort of an organized company and that its business needed to be wrapped up. Or it could have been the result of some action or inaction on Guitar's part.
These special orders are hard to track down. If anybody has any ideas, it might be illuminating in regard to this discussion, one way or the other.
