Thank you so much for your answer...You are right about Daviies County,The 1870 census shows the boys with The Creekmores...I went back to my letter and George Jacobs daughter says that his father was from Germany and spoke no English. States they owned slaves and were killed in the C.W.The letter says that George said that he and the family lived in "Texas" until the parents were killed...I believe he may have meant Texas,Missouri.....all records show that they ..the boys, were born in Mo.So coming from Texas dosent fit.[one record says Texas for G.J. but all others show Mo.]

I have left messages on Creekmore family sites ..so far no response .I thought that since John Henry stayed with them and must have been thought of as a part of the family since he is buried in the Creekmore Cemetery and owned land near them, that someone might remember the story of how they came to live with them .

I also wonder if the name Sheeler has been changed...If the father came from Germany it could be any number of spellings as you know.

My Great grandmother lived with us when I was very young and lived till I was in my teens..Oh how I wished I had this interest then!!!lol Again Thank you so much..I would love to see this one solved!!
